This report provides an outline of the new Procedures for Responding to Deaths in Childhood to be implemented across Southend, Essex and Thurrock in response to the Children and Social Work Act 2017 and Working Together to Safeguarding Children 2018.
Notification of a child death
Any agency becoming aware of:
a child death occurring in Essex, Thurrock or Southend
a death of a child normally resident in Essex, Thurrock or Southend occurring elsewhere
should make a notification to the SET Child Death Review Manager via their nominated Child Death Review lead.
The notification should be made on the Notification of Child Death form
