Keep Safe
What is Keep Safe?
Keep Safe helps people with disabilities that live, work, or socialise in Southend, feel safe when they are out in the town. Sometimes things can go wrong like losing a wallet or phone; becoming ill; or being a victim of crime; can leave someone feeling unsafe. By signing up to the Keep Safe scheme people with disabilities know that help is close at hand.
How does Keep Safe work?
Everyone that joins the Keep Safe scheme is given a key ring and a wallet card with space to write their own details, plus the name and phone number of a trusted person on it. This person can be a family member, a friend, a care worker or someone else – anyone that can help if something goes wrong. Shops and other businesses involved in the scheme will display the Keep Safe sticker in their window, and will help to call the trusted person, the police, or an ambulance if necessary.
Who is Keep Safe for?
Keep Safe is for any disabled person or person with Asperger’s over the age of 16.
