Epilepsy Nurse Specialist working with children and young people who have a diagnosis of epilepsy alongside a diagnosed learning disability and/or autism and who live within the Mid, South East and Essex area.
I work alongside the other Epilepsy Nurse Specialists in the area, whom are already a point of contact for families, however, my role is to provide additional, targeted support to children, young people, and their families, with the aim of promoting safe and effective epilepsy management. This includes supporting coordinated, holistic care that takes account of epilepsy-related needs alongside the child or young person’s broader health and developmental needs.
The support I provide may include:
• Supporting families to liaise with healthcare professionals and education settings
• Providing advice and strategies related to epilepsy management, including medication adherence
• Offering information and guidance regarding transition to adult services
Please note that I am not commissioned to provide individual healthcare plans, epilepsy care plans, or formal epilepsy training within education or home settings.
